I just want to put it out there that this was one of my favorite couple's sessions. Not only do I love the photos that came from this session, but Calyssa and Jonathan are both lovely people and so outgoing that I just had fun the whole time!
When Calyssa contacted me about taking fun, loving photos of her and Jonathan for their one year wedding anniversary, she basically started out by asking if I would mind taking the photos at The University of Dayton because it is such a special place to them. I obviously had no problem with that. I mean, a new place, beautiful weather, and fun people!? I'm in - every time! She knew what she wanted, and I admired that.
If you were wondering - no, I didn't just think one day "oh, I'll try doing a session at The University of Dayton, a place that I have never been to or seen in any capacity. That would look great!". Ha! No way. Calyssa and Jonathan both went to UD. They both spent a lot of time there and loved every minute of it. The best part? They didn't just go to UD, UD is where they met.
In a few photos below, you'll notice a gazebo. It is a really quaint and cute gazebo, so - perfect for pictures of an adorable couple, right? Yes. But again, it gets better. Ready? Jonathan proposed to Calyssa in that gazebo. She was telling me about how clueless she was when it was happening. He had it all planned out from the scrapbook of their journey as a couple so far that was waiting for her in the gazebo, to his friend wearing a hoodie, ready to slyly take photos of this huge moment. This gazebo holds beautiful and exhilarating memories for these darling people, and because of that, Calyssa did a beautiful thing and surprised Jonathan with this session for their anniversary.
It fills my heart with so much joy to know that more people than just myself recognize the significance of capturing and preserving important memories.
Calyssa and Jonathan will look back at these photos one day and remember how happy they were on their very first anniversary. I hope that feeling always sticks with them, because it is strong and it is beautiful. (I know because I witnessed it from behind my camera.)
This session will never not make my heart happy.
